History of Tatalon Church

       One of the biggest Baranggays in Quezon City in terms of population, Tatalon was a place of inhabitants, lacking spaces for shelters.  This is where unemployment and drug addiction rates are high and where dead bodies are dumped.    Therefore it is also known as the “Little Tondo of Quezon City”.

       In 1981, a group of young Christian believers made a decision to take a big step in bringing the Word of God and advancing His Kingdom in this place. Led by Elma Quemada Pillones and Rowie Galera Suela, they opened Bible studies in their shanty homes to express God’s love and salvation to the people of Tatalon.

       In 1989-1992, Pastor Robert Montemayor from Cubao took over, improving the church administration.  It was then Sunday services were held, combined with District 3 and 4 of Quezon City.  In 1992, JIL Tatalon Chapter was recognized.

The Triumphs of a Growing Church


      Like any other growing church, JIL Tatalon have had experienced triumphs and trials.  This church went through persecutions and rebellion from both members and leaders.  It also experienced handling Sunday services in an open vacant lot where no roof was provided to protect them from the harm of natural calamities.  Still the church glorifies God for His amazing grace because they were able to overcome all of these, refining them to be genuine believers of Christ.

       The church and its members are now reaping the fruits of their labor.  They now enjoy air-conditioned rooms during their Sunday services and other church activities. In 1992, activities were separately held in its own local chapters.

The Response to the Challenges
       The God of Abraham, Moses and David and the God of Bro. Eddie Villanueva becomes the God of this church who bears witness and responds to the love of God. Currently, two Sunday services and one company outreach ministry with two satellite services were established.  It did not stop responding to the challenges even to the higher and deeper calling (vocation).  Cell groups have been continuously administered in several clusters not only in Tatalon but also in some other baranggays.

       Leaders and workers committed themselves to a hundred percent submission to the mother church.  By God’s grace, they continuously pursue the entrusted vision and mission of the Jesus Is Lord Church.
