The municipality of Sta. Maria, Bulacan is composed of 24 barangays. Its constituents are well known for their religious beliefs. This town is very famous for their pasalubong treats like kakanin, bibingka, leche flan, halaya, and chicharon. It is also recognized as the Egg Nest of the Philippines.
The Jesus Is Lord Church – Sta. Maria Chapter is located at Sitio Pisang, Patag, Sta. Maria, Bulacan. It started its ministry in 1980 at Sta. Maria General Hospital through Sis. Dory Villanueva. Thereafter, bible studies were opened at Sta. Clara and Pulong Buhangin respectively. It was also in the same year when the children’s ministry started at Poblacion, Sta. Maria with Ptra. Catherine Lopez (she was then known as Sis. Kay Perez) as their teacher who is a native of Sta. Maria. In 1983, the Lord touched her to lead the ministry in their municipality. She was already an active worker of JIL - Manila. While studying and pursuing her course at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines she served in different ministries (PUP school outreach, jail outreaches at Manila, Quezon City, and Caloocan, and community outreach at Tatalon, Quezon City). When she earned her bachelor’s degree and was able to land a job, God’s calling for a full-time ministry at Sta. Maria became persistent which she couldn’t resist. To heed the call, she resigned from her highly-reputable job for ministry service. She again underwent basic equipping and training until she became the appointed pastor of JIL Sta. Maria.

Under the leadership of Ptra. Kay, she started training workers and leaders for Sta. Maria church with comprehensive discipleship trainings and seminars. As a result, more leaders and workers were produced and together they conducted house to house evangelism and crusades in every barangay. More and more people came to know the Lord which gave way to the establishment of bible studies in different places. They also conducted general fellowships in different places such as PNAS, Rotary Club, Inay Maning Perez’ residence, Central School, and there was a time beside a bridge. Their goal was to saturate every home, baranggay, and community with the word of God. As a result of their soul-winning, the first Sunday Worship Service was held at Nenon Rodriguez Compound on March 10, 1994. Workers and leaders became very excited about their place of worship. Everyone was inviting their families, relatives, and friends to attend the Sunday Service. They thought that all is going well until the caretaker told them that they have to vacate the place. They started looking for another location one after the other. Then one of the attendees offered their old auto shop at Sta. Clara as a place of worship. People from different barangays kept on coming to worship the Lord that the new Sunday service location could no longer accommodate the increasing number of attendees. Workers and leaders prayed and cried out to God for a bigger and better place of worship. They searched for a site which they can call their own and found a 1,000 square meter lot at Sitio Pisang, Patag, Sta. Maria, Bulacan wherein they could build the church for JIL Sta. Maria. Thru their step of faith, they gathered a total of nine hundred thousand pesos (P900,000) which came from their savings and assistance from the Main Church and they were able to purchase the lot in 1995. In 1996, the church building was finally constructed and in 1997, the adjacent 1000 square meter lot was purchased for the Jesus Is Lord Christian School (Pre-school). From 1999 to
2000, Grades 1 to 6 were offered and additional spacious rooms and floor levels were put up all recognized by the Department of Education. In 2002 and 2003, through the prayers and support of the workers and leaders, they were able to have a fully air-conditioned church with complete sound system.
The continuous flow of blessings were very evident that they began to seek more of God’s face and His anointing power through 40-days prayer and study of God’s word which they believe is the secret of their victory. They scheduled it every day from 4:30 am to 6:00am. They were very specific with what they asked from Him and true
enough, the Lord granted every prayer petition. Additional fourteen (14) prayer cells and one (1) prayer tower worth P1 Million pesos were built. A once-a-week prayer intercession for the country, town, body of Christ, and JIL Church was headed by town mayor Ato Mateo and town councilor Lito Jose. God blessed the church with so much and more souls were reached out that they needed to construct a church building extension.
In the Year 2006, Sta. Maria Chapter erected a three-storey church building with its ground floor fully furnished. As of today, the leadership saw the need for the completion of the mezzanine because of the increasing number of attendees. The business group formed a team for the main purpose of using their combined finances to support the goal, vision, and dream of evangelizing the whole of Sta. Maria. They declare that the great things happening in JIL Sta. Maria are all because God’s grace and favor. This church sees a Year of the Harvest which will impact the community where it belongs. All for God’s Highest Glory!
