In 1986, through Inang Nena, a Bible study was started in the house of Sis. Viring in Coloong, Valenzuela . It was summer when a prayer gathering for JIL people was held at the Prayer Garden in Bunlo, Bocaue, Bulacan, which gave birth to a vision, now a realization.

Everyone who attended that gathering was asked to introduce himself. One of the workers at that time was Pastor Domeng Rivera who was assigned to conduct a Bible Study in Malanday took notice of a certain fellow who was then a new Christian in the person of Bro. Julio Guerrero, popularly known as Bro. Bros. Immediately after the meeting, Pastor Domeng talked to Bro. Bros and after a brief introduction a Bible Study was scheduled right at that moment in the latter’s house in Malanday.

When It Became a Church
At first, there were only a few people, mostly neighbors and friends of Bro. Bros who attended the weekly Bible Study, proof of his personality and the full backing of the Holy Spirit. After a few years they increased in number. However they encountered a problem since the area becomes flooded during rainy days. So they scouted for another place. Not long after, God smiled at the group and led them to Marisyl School grounds. From a small group they increased in number and in 1989 the Bible Study group became a church, the JIL Malanday Chapter.

Who Were Instrumental in Its Growth?
During rainy days, the Church under no roof had to sacrifice holding umbrellas over their heads while Sunday Services were being held. Time came when the school needed renovation and despite the fact that the owner of Marisyl School literally closed its door to the JIL Congregation, in 1996 another door opened and the next Sunday Services were held at the Kadiwa Food Terminal Market, a few meters away from Marisyl School. Meanwhile another Church of JIL was holding its Sunday Services at Marulas in what used to be Marulas Theatre, under Pastor Dino. A few months later, unable to stand the foul smell in the area, the church moved to Marulas Theatre joining another group now under the leadership of Pastor Domeng.

Meanwhile, the family of the tireless Pastor Domeng kept moving from one place of residence to another where they could be in close proximity to the church. Faithful workers and attendees gave full support in transferring materials, equipment and musical instruments to and fro the place of worship, unmindful of material or personal gains, just purely spiritual gains.

God has been blessing this Church. For every trial and difficulty, God always came to its rescue.

The Present Church
In the year 1995, an old dilapidated residential house on a lot about 342 sq. meters located at 107 I. Fernando Street in Malanday was for sale spotted by the leadership. After its 10th anniversary, the JIL leadership, the mother church, bought it for JIL Malanday which marked the beginning of a new hope for the congregation.

Under the old building, Sunday Services and other church activities were held regularly. Through the help of faithful workers and attendees and of course, the able leadership of its pastors in terms of pledges and support, a new church building was conceived. This forced the Congregation to move to Triple (888) building just opposite the street while construction was going on, paying rent just as it did in Kadiwa and Marulas Theatre.

Pastor Domeng and Sis. Sally felt a great need for funding sources to finance the construction. In a meeting, Pastor Domeng encouraged everyone to give their pledges of support. At the generosity of every member, they gave what they have. God continued to bless the church in many ways. Many offered services for free. How can one ever forget the sweat and tears as leaders and workers spent their time, effort and even money in the pursuit of accomplishing a dream, a church of its own, very much similar to God’s Promised Land to the Israelites?

To top it all, after the 15th anniversary celebration, a scrupulous fellow hurled a knife at the back of Pastor Domeng but miraculously, though his Barong Tagalog was torn a little, his body wasn’t hurt at all. Thanks to the Great Protector, our Shield and Fortress, who having covered him by the precious blood of Jesus, thwarted the evil attack on this man of God.

After a series of ups and downs, the Pastors, the leaders, the workers, and even all the attendees are now occupying a church building, with a school within, which cannot be denied are the fruits of a labor of love among God’s chosen people, He neither did leave nor forsake.

Now accommodating children from the pre-elementary level to Grade Six, the JILCS Malanday stands strong under the able leadership of Pastor Sally P. Rivera.

God blessed us with the gift in evangelism and missions. For the glory of God Pastor Domeng leads the Body of Christ in our area. God also bestowed to our KKB’s the talent in hand mime. We already have 44 cell groups with more than 500 attendees, 1 Satellite Church and 3 Sunday Services with more than 700 attendees. Moving to its 18th anniversary by May 2007, the JIL Malanday Church is a tangible symbol of God’s power and love for people in this corner of the globe.

To God be all the glory!
