Every work of God in the Jesus Is Lord Church-Nueva Ecija started in a vision and every God-given vision always ended in realization and jubilation because of God’s abundant grace and mercy upon them. That’s how they can describe the amazing move of the Lord that led them to possess their own Worship Center – the place they call the “Promised Land”.
In 1984, after graduating from college, Rev. Crisanto Jose was assigned by Bishop Bro. Eddie C. Villanueva to evangelize and plant JIL Church at Nueva Ecija. Through it was a big task he immediately accepted the challenge, knowing it is God’s perfect plan for him.
The first Bible Study was conducted at the home of Sis. Cory Rapadas in Kapitan Pepe Subdivision, Cabanatuan City with seven to ten attendees only. Then by the grace of God, they opened their first town outreach simultaneously at the home of the Oanes Residence in Sta. Rosa, Cerezo Residence at Rizal and Panahon Residence at Llanera, Nueva Ecija.
All these accomplishments are coupled with severe persecution, disruptive natural calamities such as storms, floods and earthquakes and other discouraging experiences. But these did not weaken their faith nor bridled their passion to win souls for Christ. They persevered all the more to give God the glory. Soon they opened their first company outreach at World Cars, which was coordinated by Sis. Luz Cerezo.
In June 1985, their first Sunday Service was held at the Nueva Ecija High School (NEHS) gymnasium. They held crusades and discipleship trainings and were able to produce more workers, for there was a tremendous increase in outreaches.
In 1986, during one of the crusades at Valle Cruz, Cabanatuan City and Sta. Rosa, a vision came showing that fire from heaven came down and healed many people. Indeed that night, there was a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit and a lot of people experienced God’s power.
Hence, their first anniversary theme was taken from Luke 4:18-19, which says, “The spirit of the Lord is upon me because He has anointed me to preach the Gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, to give sight to the blind and to set at liberty them that are bruised, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Held also at NEHS gym, it was a very memorable one especially when Bro. Eddie graced the occasion.
JIL Nueva Ecija continued to grow in number as God never failed to confirm the preaching of His Word with signs, wonders and miracles.
In 1993, while celebrating their 8th anniversary with Sis. Dory Villanueva as guest speaker, they received another vision from the Lord. The vision was to look for a permanent place of worship that could house the increasing number of JIL people in Nueva Ecija. They knew they were not capable of buying a lot for the church at that time. But holding on to the theme verse that year in Genesis 22:14, they trusted that God is their “Jehovah-Jireh” – the Great Provider.
Soon enough, God had provided for them. In 1994, they held a “Jericho March” around JIL Nueva Ecija’s newly owned 2,000 square meter lot at Cabanatuan City, concurrent with the construction of its perimeter fence. In His faithfulness, God also provided the finances needed to build the Worship Center.
Amidst problems, persecution, difficulties and natural calamities, JIL Nueva Ecija has grown large and strong by the grace and mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ. They already reached 22 towns and they now have 14 Sunday Services all over the province. But they are really thankful for the fulfillment of their God given vision – the Worship Center they can all their own and wherein they can sow even more.
For all these glorious events that have marked special spots in their hearts, they give God all the glory, honor and praise.
“Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly above all we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout the ages, world without end. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
