Historical Background

It was during the height of spiritual awakening in the Philippines when the need for Christian learning institution became most necessary. At a time when Christian students and those born to Christian parents were experiencing incensed religious persecution in the schools they were attending, Bishop Bro. Eddie C. Villanueva, Spiritual Director of the Jesus Is Lord Church (then Jesus is Lord Fellowship), took the burden of providing them high quality Christian Education. He vividly captured the vision of “training up a child” (Proverbs 22:6) based on the principles of God’s Word in order to make them better citizens pf the world.

With God’s divine intervention, The Jesus Is Lord Christian School (JILCS) came into being in 1983. Under the stable stewardship of Mrs. Adoracion J. Villanueva as School Principal, the first classes began.

The following years were glorious moments of foundation laying, building and establishing of the prime school. It was in 1988 when the first batch of the elementary graduates marched proudly at JILCS ground.

Meanwhile, words of commendation about the well-rounded curricula of JILCS spread like wildfire. This doubled the number of enrollees who sought after the School’s rearing. And as the population of students largely increased, JILCS five-storey building was constructed along McArthur Highway in 1990. It houses the administrative offices, faculty rooms, computer room, science laboratory, medical-dental clinic, aside from the regular classrooms. God proved it strong and secure when July 16 Killer Quake failed to shake it. Incidentally, that was also its inaugural day.

On March 28, 1992 the first batch of students from secondary level successfully graduated from JILCS. In June 1993, the school having been granted the necessary CHED clearances and permits opened its College Department initially offering Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science courses. A year later, Commerce and Education courses were opened, giving the enrollees more courses to choose from. In March 30, 1998, twenty students became the first batch of graduates.

In its earnest desire to cater to the needs of students and parents alike, two new buildings were erected between 1997-1998, one of which now houses the College Department. The college continues to pursue its goal of academic excellence by providing adequate and convenient physical plant resources and by maintaining a highly efficient teaching staff.

Meanwhile, major expansion continued. A towering six-storey-building was constructed at the School’s rear ground. It houses the Elementary Department classrooms as well as facilities like Audio-Visual Room, Computer Room, Home Economics Room, Science Laboratory and Library.

Currently, a stalwart four-storey edifice stands adjacent to the Elementary Building. It serves a new haven of learning for the Pre-elementary pupils. It features fully air-conditioned rooms with built in rest rooms. A kid-friendly playground has been built at its rear complementing with the children’s love for fun and play.

With the many changes that happened to JILCS, it had to shed phase from its being a mere School and take on the more fitting stature it has become a College Foundation. Thus the Jesus Is Lord Colleges Foundation, or JILCF.

JILCF shall move on serving the divine purpose for which it was established by the GOOD Lord, and that is to nurture and mentor godly, wise and discerning young people who shall be the prime movers in building a blessed Philippines where Jesus Is Lord!
