JIL Poised for Holistic World Harvest

JIL Church Worldwide launched the Four Major Thrusts that would be central to the pursuit and fulfillment of its vision on the occasion of its 30th Anniversary at the Luneta Park in Manila on October 5.

The thrusts are expected to exponentially increase JIL’s level of involvement to a holistic approach to addressing the needs of the church and the nation.

First Thrust: JIL mission, vision and values

The first thrust is the whole-hearted inculcation of JIL’s mission, vision and values (MVV) to every JIL member worldwide.

Kristiyanong Kabataan para sa Bayan Movement (KKB) Chairman Rep. Emmanuel Joel Villanueva stressed the importance for JIL members to be fueled by the MVV toward the realization of the Church and the nation’s God-birthed destiny. He spurred the huge Luneta crowd to a one-minute pageantry of honor and applause for JIL pastors, who are superb embodiments of the MVV.

Director for Central Operations Rev. Joey Crisostomo followed through by exhorting JIL members who aspire to join the Church’s pastoral body.

Second thrust: Compassion ministry

As the fight to quell the ills of society and the campaigns to uplift the lives of people continue, the JIL Church shares in the advocacy to reach out and touch the lives of many individuals through the compassion ministry.

iCare shall be one of JIL’s major operations as the church’s humanitarian arm in responding to the needs of the Filipino people. This move is aimed at putting JIL outside the confines of ecclesiastical limits by extending God’s care and healing to communities that are afflicted by sickness and poverty. Feeding programs, medical missions, and relief operations among others comprise iCare’s projects and activities that are geared to foil threats of diseases and dangers to human life.

iCare is set to foster a culture of giving among JIL members, where funds are raised and collaborative efforts unite with selfless love and concern for others.

After three decades of relentless quest to grow and innovate, becoming a socially responsible ministry is an achievement that has made JIL an active player in nation building.

Third thrust: National transformation

“National transformation is the calling of the church in the last days,” Spiritual Director Bro. Eddie Villanueva said.

He admonished the churches and held them accountable for the increase of shocking injustices that plague the country today because of their unwise confinement within the “bounds” of ecclesiastical duties in the past. “It is also the duty of the church to work for justice and mercy, together with faith, as Jesus emphatically stressed,” Bro. Eddie said.

This thrust is pegged on empowering  and uniting the body of Christ to be vanguard of truth, justice, and righteousness—ingredients of national transformation that are sporadically losing ground from the foundations of government and socio-economic spheres.

Bro. Eddie reawakens the consciousness of political and church leaders in realizing the urgency for transformation to take place in the country for the sake of the generations to come and the glorious future we are all aspiring to have.

“We have looked for positive changes in the wrong places for too long now. And the act has led us only to ever mounting disappointments,” Bro. Eddie said.

Bro. Eddie was joined by Governors Grace Padaca (Isabela), Ed Panlilio (Pampanga), Rafael Nantes (Quezon), and Mayor Jesse Robredo in emphasizing the need for wickedness to be removed from the seat of power.

“Unless the Lord builds his house, the workers labor in vain,” he added.

Fourth Thrust: Evangelism and discipleship

Unstoppably evangelistic, JIL continues to put Gospel preaching and discipleship at the center of its church roadmap. Despite a million-population membership, JIL remains to see a huge harvest field not only in the Philippines but also in the world.

Two luminaries of the body of Christ who have greatly amplified the message of the Gospel in the Philippines and around the world were honored by the JIL Church in a special tribute by Bro. Eddie Villanueva.

“Billy Graham of the Philippines” Dr. Greg Tingson and US-based Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) founder Dr. Pat Robertson received special honors from JIL for their remarkable evangelistic achievements through the years.

The program climaxed in a prophetic parade of nations with special prayers for Israel to be blessed and for the Philippines to realize its evangelistic calling.

“Jesus began His ministry at the age of 30. Joseph became governor in Egypt at age 30. David was crowned king when he was 30. And on its 30th year, JIL Church shall begin to evangelize all the nations of the world.” Bro. Eddie said.
